Timber frames

The photo was taken during the winter.  It looks as though there are normally flowers in a window box.  The woodwork seems to be suffering from the watering.

I would have imagined this more English, a little like our "Tudor" architecture style. Is it common in France?

I reminds me of those "magpie" buildings in Cheshire. Remember? Though the wood is not so dark.

Does look a bit English but folks built with whatever was available and wood was plentiful when that was built. Around 1500's perhaps?
