Actually it's "The Stacking of the Tobacco Leaves" by Honoré de Balzac. A polymath.The couple on the right were just having tea whose purpose is to balance the ones on the far left, I think. Stone will tip if not balanced, of course.
Good find. I found myself staring an bits of buildings today, in a busy street. This is not good....
